Every five years, various demons belonging to the Cocagne guild of werewolves compete in the Wilderman contest to be the leader of the group. Until now, the great Ysengrin has always won. Adam Wilder, a young demon, hopes to win the Wilderman trophy this year. But when escaping the fearsome Inquisition and its leader Tankred, he finds refuge in the formidable Yaga Yaga's lair, and helps himself to the banquet prepared, including a sacred apple.
To pay for his error, he must embark upon a mission to retrieve a new golden apple from the faceless monster's castle.
