Résumé
The previous edition of this book has long been considered one of the classical introductions to an important area in the fields of information theory and discrete mathematics - an area that continues to grow in importance with the growth of applications of mathematics in computer science and in industry. After a brief review of the prerequisite mathematics, the book is divided into two parts. The first six chapters provide a rigorous mathematical introduction to coding theory. The remaining five chapters introduce the reader to various special topics such as algebraic geometry codes. These can serve as a text for a second semester course on coding theory, as supplementary reading, or as an introduction to the technical literature. Exercises with complete solutions are provided.
