The book proposes a new approach to the understanding of Pittura Analitica, not a structured artistic movement but a fluid one, which saw the participation, alongside a more or less constant nucleus of painters, also of different personalities who shared with the former some philosophical, aesthetical and technical assumptions. These pages intend to clarify the positions of the various participants in the movement, identifying actual protagonists, travel companions, who have appeared in analytical exhibitions only a few times or not at all, and finally younger artists who have dealt with the ‘analytical' teachings and can be regarded as ‘heirs' of the elders.
