Edward Elgar composed "Liebesgruß" (Love's Greeting) in 1888 as a little gift in return for a poem presented to him by his wife-to-be which she had written herself. The charming melody seem to have strengthened their love because shortly afterwards, Elgar wrote in his diary : "Engagement with the beloved A". Numerous arrangements give proof of the popularity of the salon piece. Instrumentation : violin and piano op.
