Résumé

1812, France : Marianne, a young orphan raised by nuns, dreams of vengeance for her mother Heloise's murder. Almost two hundred years later, Katya Nemcová lives with her father in Czechoslovakia but longs to escape to the West. And years later still, historian Halley Hasek hopes to travel to France, but must prove her compliance in the dystopia that is Britain in 2061. This is a story of three women bound together by shared memories memories inherited from the generations of women that have come before them and a wild adventure that spans the history of Europe, from revolutionary France to the world wars, the Prague Spring, post-Brexit Britain and beyond.
